Here's our calendar!

Quickly add it to your Google calendar!

Some of you have heard, we started using a Google Calendar to keep everyone up to date on Band events. This is useful because the upper administration of the bandstaph can edit the calendar, and the changes will show up immediately on everyone's calendars. For those of you who aren't technologically savvy, here are some step-by-step instructions for how to use this calendar.

Use this calendar through Google

If you have a Google account already (either for Gmail, or any of their other services) you're well on your way. Just go to calendar.google.com and sign in.

If you don't have such an account, go to calendar.google.com and click on the link reading "Create a New Google Account" in the lower right.

Once you're all set up, you'll get into your calendar screen. On the left menu bar, there is a box with a list of all your calendars. You can add other calendars to your list as well (like the Yankees game schedule, although Yankees suck). To add the Big Red Band caledar, click on the search box and look for "Big Red Band". The first result is our calendar. Sample events should look familiar.

Click the "Add Calendar" button, and this calendar will now appear on your list of calendars. Now, on top of your normal schedule, you will be able to view all the BRMB events!

Export a static version of the calendar

If you use a different calendar system, you're nuts. But I'll humor you anyway and help you get the Big Red Band stuff anyway. You can view the BRMB calendar alone by going to this link: Big Red Band Calendar. If you use something like 30boxes.com and want to import the Big Red Band calendar, you can find the xml version of it at this address: xml version or the iCal version at iCal version.

Reasons I don't recommend this way: this way doesn't give you the benefits of Google's awesome new web-based calendar. It is also a STATIC calendar. The real benefit of using gCal is that Matt Tucker or Becca or myself can add events and make changes all the time so you are constantly up to date. If you export a static version of the calendar, you will miss these details.

That's it, folks!
