JOIN BAND! Welcome to the Class of 2020 and new transfers! Keep an eye out for us at registration at Bartels Hall all day on Friday, August 19. We welcome all your questions about the band and about Cornell. Can't wait to meet you!
AUDITIONS will be held Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 from 12pm - 4pm in the Fischell Band Center, located in the parking lot behind the football stadium. We won't take too much of your time, but you are more than welcome to chill with us before and after. Don't stress about the audition; we just want to get to know you. Don't play an instrument? Our section leaders can hook you up and teach you!
FIRST NIGHT, our first rehearsal together with new recruits, will be held Sunday, August 21st at 7pm. Stick around for pizza, singing, and celebration. This is one event you don't want to miss! Come to First Night even if you miss auditions, and if you can't make either, definitely come to Band Camp! This does conflict with the 7pm and 9pm sessions of Speak About It, so we have arranged for you to attend the Sunday 4pm session instead.
BAND CAMP will be held on Monday, August 22 from 9am to 4pm. Here, we'll show you the ropes and get you on your way to becoming a part of the only REAL marching band in the Ivy League! It's okay if you can't make all of it, just come when you can! You can contact your section leader if you plan on coming late.
If you have any questions about any of these events, feel free to email Bethany Angeliu or Sergio Preciado! Catch you soon!

As we kick off the new school year, it's time to think about the best event(s) of the year! It's time for the PHONATHONs! On February 1st and March 2nd at 6:30 PM EST, band members will reach out to alumni for donations. This is not only a primary source of funds for the band, but an opportunity for students to talk to alumni and hear great stories of "back in the day". Everyone is encouraged to attend - even if you're shy when talking to strangers -it will be a lot of fun. Plus, FREE FOOD and great PRIZES! So, make your way down to Ives 111 and get calling! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to either Alex Wong or Claire Schiefelbein.

We were able to travel to Harvard, Brown, and Columbia (which included the semiannual Sy Katz parade) and always love seeing so many alumni on the road!
Congratulations to Michaela Olson '16 and Alex Settle '16 on a wonderful year!
We would also like to welcome back Michaela Olson '16, who has been reelected to serve again as Drum Major in 2015!

Dear Former Big Red Bands members, family and friends,
After lots of planning, meetings, and excitement, it’s finally time for a moment many of us have been waiting for--the university is ready to break ground for our new Big Red Bands practice facility!
The festivities start at 10am September 22nd, when band alumni will meet at Kite Hill and follow the band as we march up to the site of the new facility. The groundbreaking will run from 10:30 to 11am.
Following the groundbreaking, we'll have a special catered tailgate under an extra large tent on Kite Hill until kickoff at 1pm. Because we want to be able to provide enough food and drink, we ask that you let us know if you’re coming by completing the registration form here. The cost for our special tailgate celebration is $10 per adult and children under 21 are free.
For those of you who were at Homecoming last year, you know how much it has grown, and it promises to be even bigger this year. Kite Hill will be the center of activity, with a Ferris wheel, grape stomping, face painting, and all kinds of other activities, so bring your entire family.
The band has reserved limited space at Ramada Inn at the Ramada (607-257-3100) and the Econo Lodge (607-257-1400). Ask for the Big Red Band Block. If you have any questions about marching with the Alumni Band, please email Alumni Relations Co-Chair Christian Compton ’14 at cbc74@cornell.edu.

This year's Phonathons took place on January 30th, 2011 and February 3rd, 2011. They were both a great success, as the Big Red Marching Band raised money to support our continued operations. As usual, it was run by the Athletics Department, and managed by one of the Fundraising Chairs (Sheila Garcia). The members did an amazing job, calling alumni after alumni to support a band that has granted them much more than the gift of music. Let’s hope that next year’s Phonathons will be equally, if not more successful!

The Big Red Marching Band would like to extend its warmest welcome to our new Cornell president, Dr. Skorton. As some of you may know already, Skorton is a pretty awesome guy. Not only that, but he's a band tool (which we fully respect). He came to our First Night this year to kick off the season right. He even participated in one of our oldest traditions, the aardvark. Here is a photo:
Welcome, Skorton, to the Cornell community. We look forward to seeing you around the BRMB again in the season.
